The first interkolkhoz medical center in the Udmurt Republic was opened by initiative of M.I. Suvorov - former first secretary of Working Committee of CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union), in 1963. There people with radiculitis, neuritis, skin and gynecological diseases found help. I.K. Nazarov was head physician that time. The first and the only institution for mud- and water-cures in a countryside of the Udmurt Republic was opened in 1972. It had two physiotherapy rooms, microwave and ultrasonic therapy rooms, mud-buth and water-buth departments, paraffinotherapy, medical shower. These factors help treated 200-250
patients a day. Republican physiotherapeutic hospital was opened on 1 April 1983, Republican Hospital of Medical Rehabilitation (RHMR) - in 1985.
Revelation of medical peat-mud field and mineral water field, which contain
drinking, iodide-bromine and hydrogen sulfide water, were the cause of organization of RHMR.
RHMR in the presents is the only public institution of the Udmurt Republic where the unique natural medical factors are used. The mudfield in Kizner is similar by chemical mixture of mud with mud and water in Palanga resort (Latvia) and Kemeri resort (Lithuania). There are 115 bed in the hospital. And about 4000 patients are treated here annually, 60% among them - contryfolk of the Udmurt Republic.
Mud therapy is organized on 6 bed - about 65 patients per shift and about 4000 a year. A pump-room was built in 2002, and there is organized drinking of mineral water, 150 persons can be serviced here a day (5500 annually). Mineral water is low-salinity, sodium-sulfate and calcic-magnesium with low-alkaline reaction medium by physicochemical property. Field of application: stomach diseases, duodenum, liver and biliary diseases as well as intestines and kidneys diseases.
The hospital got new building owning to insistence of head physician -

The main building of RHMR was bought from Gorky Railways (now JSC "RZD").
For reconstruction of the main building was spent 4.765.000 rubles from the Budget of the Udmurt Republic and 3.640.000 rubles from Compulsory Health Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation.
